Keion Bryant, A Dedicated Man

This fall semester, featured DJ Keion Bryant’s objective is to find artists that live up to the title of his new show on KDHR, “Talented Radio.”

Bryant, whose show airs on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., plays an eclectic mix of Hip-Hop, R&B, Alternative and Rock and Roll.

“My show is about playing good music from talented artists,” Bryant said. “I play a bunch of music that I like in particular, plus music that is considered inspirational to others including myself.”

Bryant also plans to use his show to talk about current topics in the news and music industry, as well as social issues. For the next few weeks, Bryant will focus on dedicating content to those that have inspired him.

“My first show, I did a dedication to my mother,” Bryant said. “For the next few weeks I am going to do shows similar to that and dedicate my show to other influential people that have been in my life.”

In addition to using radio as a platform for his own voice, Bryant would like to help others speak their mind. He said that he likes how radio provides an outlet for people’s voices to be heard and expressed on a worldwide platform.

In the future, Bryant’s goals include producing shows and learning how to mix music and commentary in a studio environment. He would also like to learn the business behind radio and the way content is archived and released. In the meantime, he is finishing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Audio Engineering at California State University, Dominguez Hills, and will continue to gain experience as a new host this semester at KDHR.

“I couldn’t believe I was live on the air talking and playing music on my first show,” Bryant said. “It was a very powerful experience for me.”
